When we were married 46 years ago, my Mom gave me this recipe box as a bridal shower gift. Inside there were recipe cards she had typed for me of many of her recipes. I can appreciate what a gift of love this was. She had 4 other children at home and a very busy life as a stay at home mom and homemaker. She had chosen her favorite meals, cookies, soups and holiday treats for me. The lid has since come off of the recipe box over time, but I feel my Mom's love and presence every time I look at one of her recipes in my box. This Thanksgiving I'll be making Mom's sweet potato bake recipe. You know the one that has brown sugar and mini marshmallows on top. As we are unable to gather as a large family for Thanksgiving and Christmas, it will warm my heart to know my Mom is here in spirit. We will enjoy her sweet potato bake just as we did growing up for many years.
This Thanksgiving, I am grateful for my family and the love and support they have always given me and continue to do. And I'm thankful for my Blog friends for reading Lakehouselyn each week for the past 8 years. May you all have a very safe, healthy and happy Thanksgiving.
That is so special! And thank you for sharing that recipe, Penny wants me to make it! I don’t have canned ones and my marshmallows are vegan, but I’m going to make you both proud! 😘
