Solving your Crowded Entryway

Photo courtesy of CabinLife, February 2013

One of the biggest problem areas in any home is the entry way closet.  It seems to be the catch all for family and friends.  I found this great idea in CabinLife.  Ditch the closet door!  Take everything out of the closet, store out of season attire in another closet or the garage.  Decide what stays,  but might be a good idea to include everyone in the decision making.  We like to keep organizing bins and baskets on hand for this purpose.

The Door-ectomy:

Unscrew the hinges from the door, starting at the bottom.  It will be easier to unscrew hinges from the jamb without the weight of the door.  Unscrew the door hinges from the strike plate where the latch goes.  Fill the holes with wood putty.  Sand flat when dry and paint or stain.

Your organizing options includes any of the following:  Roll out bins, baskets, benches or drawers.  The possibilities are endless.  Consider hooks on the back wall for coats or hats, and benches to provide seating for putting shoes or boots on.

I always say you can't have enough baskets because they can be used for multi purposes.

Have a great weekend with family and friends and please visit on Tuesday for Grill Tuesday. Thanks for stopping by!
