Memorial Day Entertaining Ideas

We have finally arrived at the first official weekend of the beginning of Summer season.   Here are a couple of easy ideas to help ensure your party will be fun for everyone.

Fire up the grill and barbecue chicken. Grill some rib-eye steaks, hamburger or cheeseburgers.  Create a simple Caprese salad plate with sliced tomatoes, sliced mozzarella, fresh basil and drizzled balsamic vinegar on top.  My "Patriotic Salad" below is simple and takes 5 minutes to put together.  Romaine leaves, raspberries, blueberries, Athenos crumbled feta cheese, toss in a bag of SunMaid dried cherries for a tart flare, glazed walnuts, and refrigerate until ready to serve. My favorite dressing for this salad is raspberry dressing. Just the right amount of sweetness.  I featured on a recent post a fun Make Your Own Sundae Bar we hosted recently and it's another fun idea for a picnic or Summer gathering.

Relax, Boat, Swim, Picnic, Read, Play Volleyball, Tag Football, Boccee, Roast                       S'mores, Catch Fireflies, Build a Bonfire and Tell Stories.

Oscar Party Time

I found this cookie cutter on Fancyflours to make my homemade sugar cookie Oscar trophies

Mini award trophies given to the winner who has the most correct wins on their ballots.  Printable ballots can be found on Popsugar

Oscar party supplies can be found on Orientaltrading. They even sell mini trophies for $9.99 a dozen.

Every Oscar party needs a red carpet!

As my birthday approached every year, my Mom reminded me when she and my Dad were expecting me, she went into labor during the Oscars as they watched.  Maybe this explains my love for the Oscars each year!   I do have a love for watching movie and music award shows, but the Oscars are special to me and I look forward to hosting the annual Oscar party in our home every year.  The best part of the award show parties is flexibility. Years past, I have provided tiaras, buoas, necklaces, and bling of all kinds. This year I am going with a relaxed party and serving fun comfort foods.  My menu will include mini sloppy joe sandwiches, pigs in blankets, assorted dips, cheese and veggie trays.   I've told guests to wear their most comfortable clothing,  enjoy themselves, grab a plate and drink, fill out their ballots and enjoy the show!  🏆🏆🏆🏆
