Grilled Beer Brats

Photo and recipe courtesy of WhooNEW

I love the taste of  grilled bratwurst 12 months a year.  Try par boiling your brats in a beer and sliced onion mixture, using 3-4 cans or bottles of beer and 1-2 sliced onions.  Bring the mixture to a boil before putting the bratwurst in the pan.  Pop them on the grill and brown them.

Others prefer it reversed.  Grill the brats and then soak in beer and onion.  According to Whoonew.com, if you overcook the brats on the grill, they will plump up again in the beer.

If you like a sweeter taste, use 2 tablespoons of brown sugar in the beer mixture.
A popular topping is sauerkraut.
Remember the mustard, pickles and relish.

Great sides to serve are baked beans, potato salad, pasta salad, pickles and potato chips.
Happy Tuesday everyone!
