Grilled Banana Bites

Photo Better Homes & Garden

I really love the simplicity of this recipe and who doesn't love bananas and Nutella? This dessert takes 15 minutes from start to finish and makes 6 servings. Grilling the fruit will caramelize the surface that enhances the flavor.

3 medium bananas, 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, 1/2 cup Nutella spread, 18 butter cookies, whipped cream (homemade or store bought), toasted chopped hazelnuts (optional)

Directions:

Leaving the peels intact, cut the bananas in half lengthwise.  Brush cut sides with oil.

For a charcoal or gas grill, place the banana halves, cut sides down on the grill directly over medium heat.

Cover and grill for 4-6 minutes or until heated through and golden grill marks appear.

Remove the peels from the banana halves and cut crosswise into thirds (see photo above).

Spread Nutella onto cookies, and add banana portions.

Top with whipped cream and hazelnuts if you like and serve immediately.

**Clean the grill rack with a wire brush and lightly oil the surface with a paper towel dipped in vegetable oil BEFORE you light the grill to prevent the bananas from sticking.
