Nashville Birthday Weekend with the Girls

Charles Esten who plays Deacon on Nashville

I celebrated a super special birthday recently with a fun packed, memorable weekend trip to Nashville, Tennessee given to me by and shared with my daughter, daughter in law, sister in law and niece.  It is fair to say we are hooked on barbecue and fried pickles. We all watch the ABC hit show "Nashville" Wednesday evenings together, which was our motivator for the trip.  A bonus was finding out the show was filming a live performance for a future show appearing on April 23rd at the famous Ryman Auditorium during our weekend in Nashville.  We were seated 6 rows from the stage allowing us to enjoy every star we love singing our favorites for several hours.  Double bonus to meet them and they were gracious enough to be photographed with us.

What a birthday gift!  If you are in the Nashville area anytime soon, here are a few of restaurants I highly recommend:

jacksbarbque: Jacks has awesome barbecue pulled pork and ribs and the nicest crew behind the counter.

BB kingsBB Kings catfish is a must try and check out the carl stewart blues trio for smooth blues.

Puckett's:  Pucketts Grocery has an amazing smoked bologna thick cut served on white country bread, grilled with lettuce, tomato and pickle is incredible! (We'll go back to healthy eating next week, right?)

The Row: The Row offered delicious grilled catfish tacos with your choice of sauces from mild to a lot of kick.  Don't forget the fried pickles!

The Frothy Monkey: The Frothy Monkey is a well known coffee house with out of this world sandwiches and pastries, not to mention a great offering a coffee drinks. It has such a welcoming ambiance and you can tell people come there to spend hours catching up with friends and getting work done.

If you have an opportunity to visit Nashville, don't hesitate.  True southern hospitality awaits you!
Thank you girls for a trip I will never forget!
