Trail Mix for your Road Trip

Pictured in the bowls to add are sweet and savory choices of pastel colored m&m's, chocolate covered espresso beans and dried cherries. All of the above can be found in your local grocery store.

Whether you are traveling or enjoying a stay cation over spring break, easy grab and go snacks are a fun way to satisfy your hunger between meals.  Trail mix is usually a winner simply because you can customize its content for just about every ones taste or dietary needs. These can be pricey in the store.  These are a few goodies I had in my pantry, so I mixed them together in a large bowl and loved the result.  Just store them in individual Ziploc bags that are easily transportable.  When my children were growing up and they had friends over,  I made a large bowl of popcorn, and tossed in pretzels, goldfish crackers, m & m's, and chocolate chips.  The chocolate chips melted into the hot popcorn and tasted delicious.

Peanuts, almonds, cashews or walnuts, or a little more pricey but tasty macadamia nuts are a great place to start.
Next add dried cranberries, dried pineapple, cherries, raisins.
Sweet options include dark or milk chocolate chips, m & m's, shredded coconut, white chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, chocolate covered coffee beans (a favorite of mine), or cacao nibs.
A couple of salty favorites I like are pretzel twists, popped popcorn and/or Chex cereal.
The fun part is there are no rules for trail mix so you can enjoy whatever your favorites are.

What's your favorite snack mix?

Savory & Sips with SkinnyPop

SkinnyPop is a staple snack in our home. With six tasty flavors to choose from, we find one to satisfy the taste buds of everyone. One of the reasons I love serving it is the popcorn is gluten-free (perfect for my Grandson with special dietary needs), peanut-free, preservative free, has no artificial flavors, and zero trans fat. These snacks provide delicious flavor with clean ingredients you will feel good about eating. It begins simply with popcorn kernels, sunflower oil and salt.

My husband and I share a passion for sunsets, especially up north. We love packing a small cooler to take to the lakefront to enjoy our favorite wines and SkinnyPop. We always make sure we have a couple of flavors with us to pass and share with friends as neighbors and friends gather to witness each gorgeous sunset. Why pick just one kind when you can try them all?

The team at Skinnypop put together a helpful guide to help you pair wine types with it's most tasteful flavors It's a perfect reference when shopping for your entertaining needs...

What's your favorite flavor? Original, White Cheddar, Naturally Sweet, or the newest additions to the SkinnyPop family...JalapeƱo and Dusted Dark Chocolate?

You can't choose just one :)
