S'more's Indoors or Outdoors

Though we are still in summer mode, our thoughts are returning to fall as Memorial Day is in view. You can't go wrong making s'mores when you are hosting or just celebrating a beautiful day. If rain in in the forecast, read below on how to make your s'mores in the oven.

To save time, make up s'more kits ahead of time before everyone heads out to the fire pit (sticks not included).  It's an easy way to distribute all of the makings for delicious s'mores and the containers are reusable.  Kids especially love having their own container of s'more goodies.  Check with your local grocer about selling berry baskets.  If that's not an option, they can be purchased on Amazon or the craft store Michaels.  Budget friendly places to purchase your fixings are Walmart or Costco.  Kraft sells StackerMallows, a flattened marshmallow that fits perfectly on your graham cracker? I like just eating them out of the bag!

**If rain is dictating you staying indoors for the weekend, have squares of aluminum foil ready to pop each basket of ingredients into, assemble your s'more and heat in the oven at 350 for just a few minutes until the chocolate and marshmallow have melted and enjoy.  Happy weekend and thanks for reading.

I love these Gluten Free graham crackers if you are on a Gluten Free diet.

Portable Bonfire

City Bonfires is a portable bonfire that is handmade using nontoxic materials. They were designed by 2 men whose jobs were impacted by the pandemic.  While home with their families, they came up with the idea of a portable bonfire. My husband bought a City Bonfires and included graham crackers, Hershey bars and marshmallows for our family members to enjoy s'mores at their next outdoor picnic. What I love about this product is it's a great portable heat source with no smoke and ashes. And each bonfire is handmade in Maryland by inventors, Chris McCasland and MIchael Opalski using all American made materials.

We love this product and use it often on our patio when we are in the mood for s'mores but don't want to light the grill. You can buy them on Amazon and they make a fun gift for housewarming, holidays, birthdays or hostess gifts.

Have you had s'mores lately?

Hershey's Melting Tray

We were recently given a fun gift for use on our grill.  It's the Hershey's S'Mores melting tray.  It can be found at Target for around $8.00.  The design is simple, has a non stick surface and is easy to store because of it's foldable legs. Simply keep the grill hot once you've enjoyed a great meal, assemble the s'mores on the tray, place the melting tray on top of the grill grates and close the lid for a short time until the s'mores are melted. Remove the tray and s'mores to enjoy these fun treats!
This makes a fun gift when given with all the makings for s'mores. Graham crackers, marshmallows and of course Hershey bars.  Keep it in mind if you're attending a party or picnic this upcoming Labor Day.

Happy Weekend!😊

Halloween S'mores

Trick or Treat

Who doesn't love s'mores ?  These are so easy to make ahead of time and your favorite trick or treaters will think you are the best!  I purchased small plastic bags at my local craft store (though sandwich bags would work well too).  Purchase Halloween stickers at your craft or card shop and decorate the bag any way you like.    Place two graham crackers , a small hershey bar and a ghost or pumpkin marshmallow peep into the bag, tie with ribbon at the top and you have the perfect makings for a s'more. Insert a small instruction note inside .  Place unwrapped chocolate bar on top of a graham cracker.  Top with your marshmallow peep and second graham cracker,  Microwave for 10 - 15 seconds and ENJOY!!

Also pictured are gluten free sugar cookies with cream cheese frosting.

Have a safe and happy Halloween and Happy Birthday to my wonderful Dad. You are loved beyond words!

Adjust A Grill for your Firepit

We had our family up north for a recent weekend,  and our son and daughter in law surprised us with an adjustagrill,  a grill of simple design to be used for campfire cooking.  It involves a simple set up, and is adjustable to raise or lower with the turn of a knob.  So we inserted the support rod into the ground at the base of our fire pit, placed the grill on top, lit a fire and enjoyed the outdoor cooking on a gorgeous Fall day.

They treated us to grilled rib eyes from omahasteaks  seasoned just right with omahasteaks seasoned salt and cooked to utter perfection! Also on the menu were hot dogs for the smallest family members who truly appreciates the fine cuisine of a grilled beef hot dog:)

After we finished enjoyed our wonderful meal, we gathered our graham crackers, Hershey's bars, and marshmallows, collected sticks from the yard and made s'mores. How genius was our son in law's idea of assembling his s'mores and placing it on the grill top to melt evenly.    Pure delight!

Pick up your Adjust-A-Grill today at bassproshop or cabelas and enjoy the outdoors with family and friends this weekend.

Happy Fourth of July

Celebrate the day with family and friends.  Fourth of July falls on a Friday this year, allowing us to celebrate together the entire weekend with traditions that have become important to our family.
This sign was made by my daughter years ago and though she is married now, the sign still comes out every Fourth of July.
Another tradition is we fire up the fire pit and make a S'mores bar.  Something everyone can enjoy and so easy to make.  Buy plastic buckets at any discount store or check out www.partycity.com for your holiday needs.
Stock up on all the favorites!  Hershey bars, peanut butter, marshmallows, and graham crackers.

Have a happy and safe holiday weekend:)

Don't have time to fire up the grill or fire pit for those wonderful s'mores everyone craves in the summer?  Soften Blue Bunny Sweet Freedom Rocky Road Ice Cream and spread between two graham crackers.  Awesome in 60 seconds.  (and add a layer of hot fudge if you dare... trust me, your family and friends will thank you!)

Enjoy!

Father's Day Easy Dessert at the LakeHouse

We are all celebrating Dads this weekend, and I thought I would highlight an easy dessert idea the whole family can do together that is fun, gooey and delicious.   Create a simple S'Mores Station that will allow each family member, friend or guest to make their own s'more.  Creates a dessert and activity all in the same step.  It's a guaranteed winner for both young and old.   All you need is a leftover fire from your grill, a fire pit or they can easily be done in the oven.   Everybody finds their own long stick in the yard for their marshmallows.  Toast and place your chocolate (Hershey's a classic) on the graham cracker topped with the toasted marshmallow and another graham cracker.  Does Dad like Nutella, peanut butter or bananas?  Awesome on a S'More.
Rain keeping you inside?  Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, assemble your S'mores and wrap in aluminum foil.  Bake for 5-6 minutes, take out of the oven and allow to cool for a minute or so...Voila'!

Happy Father's Day to my loving and devoted husband who is always there for his family no matter what, my sweet son who is not only a loving son but is in totally in love with his wife and children, and
to my Dad who has shown his family example of what a loving family is and still continues to teach me life lessons after 59 years.  Enjoy your day....  Stop by for Grill Tuesday which coincidentally will be my 100th post.

Have a great weekend...........    A Very Very Happy Birthday to my Husband Saturday!
