Birthday Pancakes

Celebrating Birthdays and Special Moments

Our daughter has always loved pancakes, chocolate chip being her favorite.  As she got older, she surprised me one year with "funfetti" pancakes topped with whipped cream. They were both delicious and festive.  Our daughter in law makes these for our grandchildren on their birthdays, always topped with whipped cream and a cherry.  Simply mix in 1/4 cup Pillsbury funfetti cake mix into your regular blended pancake batter, stir together and place on your hot griddle sprayed with cooking spray, flip when rising and slightly brown, and serve.

It's the simple ways we celebrate our special moments that have the most impact in our lives.  Happy birthday to our daughter Kait-lately.blogspot.com and wishing you happy years filled with laughter, love, smiles and joy you bring to us. You are loved all the love in the world!

Easy Game Grub

✨Buffalo Chicken Pull Apart Loaf✨

If you're looking for something to serve while watching the games this weekend, or an easy fun dish to take to the neighbors pot luck, I've put together a buffalo chicken pull apart loaf that is sure to impress!
Six ingredients, parchment paper and a loaf pan are all you need.

1 Rotisserie chicken you can pick up at your local grocery store, 1/2 cup hot sauce, 1/2 cup shredded cheddar, 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese, 6 tablespoons melted butter, and Pillsbury refrigerated flaky biscuit dough.  Melt the butter and mix together the cheeses, hot sauce and chicken finely shredded.  Place loaf pan you have lined with parchment paper on its side and layer biscuit, chicken mixture, biscuit and chicken mixture until you have reached the top of the pan.  Bake in a preheated 350 oven for 40 minutes uncovered, and cover with foil last 20 minutes.  Cool for a few minutes, pull apart and enjoy with your favorite beverage.  Happy weekend!

Pull it apart, have plenty of napkins and enjoy!

Celebrate News Year's as a Family

Ring in the new Year as a family at home this year with these simple and fun ideas.

Buy party hats, poppers and confetti

Watch home movies while eating cheese fondue together . If you don't own a fondue pot, you can use a slow cooker to create your fondue. (recipe below found on Pillsbury.com)
Tradition says you may have to give the person on your left a kiss or hug if you lose your bread cube in the pot:)

Get on your favorite pajamas, grab your pillows, blankets and sleeping bags and enjoy a family slumber party.

What's a slumber party without your favorite board games?  Watch movies all night long.

Do you have a favorite family tradition for the New Year?  At our house, we have a handled bell that has been in my husbands family for years.  We go outside at midnight and ring the bell and shout Happy New Year.  My husband and his sister rang it when they were little, our children rang it as little ones and now our little grandchildren ring in the New Year.

May you have a Blessed New Year filled with happiness, health and blessings.  Thank you for reading Lakehouselyn.

When in the Mood for a Great Pastry!

A staple in my freezer are Trader Joe's frozen chocolate croissants!  Quick, easy and smells delicious
while in the oven.  If you can't make it to Trader Joe's, simply buy Pillsbury croissant refrigerated dough, unroll on a baking sheet prepared with either parchment paper or sprayed lightly with a
baking spray such as Pam.  Place a handful of chocolate chips on each piece of dough and roll tightly.
Bake in 350 oven for about 10-12 minutes or until rolls look done...take out of oven and cool slightly.
Delicious!!!

Serve on a pretty platter with coffee or goes nicely with hot chocolate in the winter!  :)
