The weather is changing and when the time changes soon for some of us, it means a lot of us will leave for work and come home from work in the dark. I have a couple of friends whose moods depend on the amount of daylight and sunshine they see. When the colder weather presents itself suddenly after nice long summer days, some embrace it while others hibernate and feel a bit withdrawn.
It's important to keep active during the cold months by getting outdoors as much as possible to walk, take drives, meet up with friends for coffee or a quick meal.
What can we do to help those we care about and show them kindness? I'm an old fashioned note and card sender. My local card shop knows me by name. When I am there, I make sure I pick up extra cards to keep and use when needed that tell someone they are in your thoughts or cards that will bring a smile on a hard day. This way I have them when I need them.
Another way I try to bring a smile is with my cooking or baking. Comfort foods do have a positive effect on many and sometimes just that little gesture can change a persons day. My sister and I call one another the "traveling soup sisters" and will leave a container of homemade soup on each others or anyone we feel needs a hug.
Soup in your pjs....sure to bring a smile. |
Soups always on the stove or in my slow cooker! I like to make big batches so I can freeze them for another day. |
May you have a comfort day and thanks for reading💟
