Memorial Day Mason Jar Strawberry Shortcakes to Serve this Weekend

As we honor those who have served in our military in the past, present and future,  we honor and thank you all for your sacrifices.  Without your bravery, our every day freedoms wouldn't be possible.  We salute you and pray for your safety and blessings.  (I thank my Father for serving in Alaska during the Korean War, leaving my Mom behind as a newlywed,  returning for my birth, only to return to Alaska for another year and come home when I was a toddler.)  It was difficult on my parents, and I love and thank you both for time served and your love for one another and our Country.

May God bless all of you on this day and always.

I love this dessert and it's so easy to make.  Throw in blueberries to present your family with a treat that's Red, White & Blue!

Here's an easy dessert with beautiful presentation while entertaining this weekend.
Six (12 oz.) mason jars
1 Angel Food cake
6 cups sliced strawberries
2-3 cups blueberries
1 pint heavy whipping cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup powdered sugar

**To make the whipped cream from scratch, place a large mixing bowl into the freezer for 10 minutes.  Add the whipping cream and vanilla to the chilled bowl.  Whip the mixture on medium speed while gradually adding the powdered sugar.  Increase the speed to high and whip the cream until it holds its shape and appears stiff. (2-3 minutes).  Refrigerate until ready to use.

Or shortcut and use canned whipped cream.  Works beautifully!

Slice the angel food cake into 2" cubes and layer angel food cake, sliced strawberries, and whipped cream and top with sliced strawberries.

I love chalkboard labels!  Try personalizing the jars with a chalkboard label with each guests name written on it.  Sure to make them feel extra special.

~May everyone have a safe and Happy Memorial Day weekend~
