Frosty Weekend Treats to Beat the Heat

Hosting a group over the holiday weekend? We have been waiting to enjoy the joys of summer and the heat is on. It's hard to believe July 4th is days away. If you're looking for frosty treats to help you and your crowd cool down, look no further. Here are my top 3.

Root Beer Float, Nutella Milkshake, and Banana Split.

Nutella Milkshakes - Add 1/3 cup Nutella,www.nutella.com, 1 cup skim milk (doesn't have to be skim) and 3 big scoops of vanilla frozen yogurt or ice cream in your blender and blend until mixed. Serve immediately and enjoy,  Makes 2 (10 ounce) milkshakes.

Root Beer Floats - Pour your favorite root beer half way full in a frosty glass, put 2 large scoops of frozen vanilla yogurt or ice cream into the glass, dress up with an awesome paper straw. Love it.
My husband has been making root beer floats as a treat for all of us at the lake house for 25 years.  Always a favorite of family and friends.

Banana Splits - I always enjoy one giant banana split each summer.  Best part of this treat is you customize to your liking. I am a pineapple and chocolate sauce girl. Peel and slice your banana lengthwise, place slices of banana longways on each side of your dish.  Top with 2 or 3 scoops of your favorite frozen yogurt or ice cream.  Next come the topping offerings. Traditional choices are sliced strawberries (fresh or frozen..slightly thawed),  blueberries, drained crushed pineapple, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, butterscotch, hot fudge, whipped cream (of course!), chopped nuts, maraschino cherries.  Others to try are chocolate chips, raspberries, blackberries, coconut, vanilla wafers, crumbled brownies, crushed graham crackers, or for grown up banana splits, a splash or rum or brandy over the ice cream.

Enjoy the holiday and have a safe and happy 4th of July🎆
